Back from a thrilling week of full-on Alpine Instruction and a bit of rock climbing.
To up my skills for the Himalayas I undertook a week long, one-on-one, Alpine instruction course with Adventure Consultants based in Wanaka. I was hooked up with guide/instructor, Tim Robertson.
What a blast!! Tim decided the best place to go was up the Fox Glacier region into the Southern alps.
We travelled by helicopter into Pioneer Hutt and did some awesome climbing in stunning weather. Towards the end, my right foot started giving me grief from rolling my ankle traversing the steep face of Glacier Peak. From there we did some ice climbing in the lower Fox Glacier and rock climbing near Wanaka.
In 7 days I learnt so much, I just hope I can remember it all, met some really interesting climbers and guides on the way, and had a blast!!
After that week, doing some real "climbing", talking to some really knowledgeable people, and thinking about "what I’m doing", I have decided to alter my pathway a we bit. Am investigating and putting it together at the moment so will let you all know soon!!
Till then, have a great Xmas with your families and friends, and have a great new Year!! |
