We at the Foundation for Youth Development (FYD) are very excited for Dave as he attempts his 'impossible dream' of climbing in the Sagarmatha Mt Everest region of the Himalayas. Dave has chosen to help us us because we help Kiwi kids achieve their impossible dreams. By growing their self-confidence, their self-belief and their ability to reach their full potential.

When Jo-anne Wilkinson and I formed FYD in 1994, we were dismayed that New Zealand was leading the OECD in negative youth statistics. And with a dedicated group of experts and friends, we opted to do something about it - this was our impossible dream.

FYD is now a leading youth development organisation with proven programmes – Kiwi Can, Stars, Project K and MYND. These provide young people with the opportunity to build self-confidence and learn valuable life skills. Which we believe also deliver wider social and economic benefits to New Zealand.

Twenty community trusts run our programmes across the country. Together, we help over 18,000 young people each year to become confident, healthy individuals who contribute positively to society.
